Hey, McK 79 Class Member! Here's an idea for next year.
Dear McK 79ers!
As you know, by the grace of God 2026 will be our 65th birthday celebration!! It has been suggested by 79er Wanda Brooks that we have a Class 65th Birthday Celebration. We are already in the 8th month of the year; the time to start planning is now, if this is something the class wants to do. As the number 8 represents new beginnings now should be the perfect time to begin. In order to make this happen, we need heavy participation – everyone if possible.
What would need to be decided ASAP:
1. Is this something class wants to do? (We assume so, but by class rule we are required to ask. Unless numerous 79ers voice opposition to class leaders we will simply move right along – no need for a formal vote)
2. Select a date of the event in 2026.
3. Head count/participation (preliminary headcount now; a more definite headcount later)
4. Location (most likely McKinley Alumni Center)
5. Other details
Next step: Meeting (on Zoom) and Committee formation
We need 79ers to be in on a Zoom call. This Sunday, August 10 at 5PM (BR time)
Coming out of the meeting, we will Form a committee (You do not have to live local. All committee meetings will be held via Zoom, conference call or other distance media). If you have never worked on an event committee then this is your time.
Please let me know if you will be available for the call on Sunday.
Additional info regarding the Zoom meeting will be sent out. Again, you are asked to meet on Zoom at 5PM, this Sunday August 10. If through class feedback it is determined that another time is more suitable, then you will be informed. At any rate, the class-wide meeting on the McK 79ers’ 65th birthday must take place sometime very soon.
Sincerely,
McK 79er Sherin Tansiel
